We work with the NHS and private patients and provide out-patient, day patient and in-patient services.

Patients suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorders, and Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS) are accepted following an initial assessment.

In-patient Treatment

Some people with Eating Disorders find themselves at high risk of physical problems and out-patient treatment may not be appropriate. More intensive treatment may be required for those making little progress in therapy, or for whom the physical risks are increasing. Riverdale Grange Hospital provides this specialist treatment on an in-patient basis.

Our multi-disciplinary team includes:

  • Consultant Psychiatrist
  • General Physician
  • Dietician
  • Nurse Therapist
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapists)
  • Art Psychotherapist
  • Family Worker
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Body Image Therapist

Our holistic approach to care incorporates complementary therapy treatments, which include:

  • Self-esteem work
  • Relaxation therapy (Aromatherapy and Massage)
  • Yoga
  • Beauty treatments
  • Relapse prevention
  • Art (both individual and group sessions)

Out-patient and Day patient services

Many patients with Eating Disorders can be offered out-patient therapy. Patients are allocated a care coordinator who works in together with the patient and the multi-disciplinary team.

Specialist therapy will generally involve a number of different components of care. This will usually include core psychological therapy, nutritional work, weight and physical health monitoring. In some circumstances additional components such as motivational work, interpersonal or family therapy, may become a more central focus of care.

We can provide outpatient care for up to 8 patients with Eating Disorders on any one day, from 13 years of age.

Day care treatment is usually of benefit to:

  • Patients discharged from in-patient treatments that still require support.
  • Patients requiring monitoring, meal supports nutritional advice and psychological intervention to maintain an acceptable standard of mental and physical health.
  • Patients with Eating Disorder relapses
